The latest trend in wedding photography is a little something I like to call the "First Look." This is when the bride and groom see each other before the wedding, allowing time for more photos to be taken prior to the ceremony. This trend has become increasingly popular, especially if the ceremony and reception are taking place in the same location or if daylight becomes an issue.

Even if you consider yourself to be a traditional bride or groom, consider the following benefits of seeing each other before the ceremony...

1 - Allows time to connect emotionally, talk to each other and express your feelings in a private setting

2 - Take this time to exchange gifts with one another

3 - Use the extra time during the cocktail hour to take photos with the bridal party and immediate family

4 - Join the cocktail hour with family and friends

When a bride and groom don't feel rushed to take their wedding photos, they are more relaxed and the photographer can be more creative.

Before you decide to create a "First Look" moment, be sure to schedule your wedding day accordingly. Hair and make-up services should be booked early. Give yourselves plenty of time to get dressed and travel (if needed) to your wedding destination. If you are running late, you might miss the opportunity to capture these emotions on film.
