Your style and tastes have probably grown and evolved since those days of childhood dreams, but choosing your wedding dress can be a wonderful experience and the time to live out some of those fantasies.

Know your budget and discuss your limitations with your salesperson. Ten percent of the total budget is customary, so work that out ahead of time. Find out what additional expenses to expect. Some shops include alterations in the price. If not, get estimates of the various extra charges.

Minimize less-than-perfect areas? A strapless or halter neckline will show-off toned arms and a plunging back gives a dramatic feel. Is the dress comfortable? Does it make you feel beautiful? If you'll be tearing up the dance floor, make sure your dress or train isn't so cumbersome that it will be in your way all night and end up torn and soiled.
You're wedding gown should be a reflection of you and your personality. There really are no rules today any color or style goes. You may want to have your maid of honor or wedding day attendant present at a fitting to learn how to bustle your gown.
