She enters the chapel and straightens her train
She pauses a moment, a last refrain
Each detail of her wedding. she has planned to a tee
The moment, the music, as unique as she
When choosing entertainment for your wedding consider the following:
Ceremony Music:
Are you imagining the soft strings of a harpist as you walk down the aisle? How about the sound of an organ playing the bridal march? Do you imagine a trumpet in the background or a bagpipe? Are you considering a string group or a pianist accompanying a vocalist with your favorite love song? Then theres always a guitar, violin, cello or flute? So many choices and so little time.
Reception Entertainment
Do you prefer a very laid back and elegant affair with just piano music or a string group of your choice? Is your cup of tea, a DJ that plays the latest music CDs and acts as a Master of Ceremonies? How about an Interactive DJ to show your guests the latest dances? Do you have your heart set on a live band or fancy a strolling guitarist throughout the reception serenading your guests? Some musicians provide both live music and DJ services, a cost effective way to provide versatility to your event. Another choice might be a string group during the cocktail hour and a DJ or band to follow with introductions and the like.
Whatever entertainment you consider, its wise to do your homework. Entertainment is a crucial choice for the success of the wedding, and will be remembered long after the guests forget about the cake and the flowers. Your special day should be all you dreamed it would be, right down to the right music. First, find out what is important to you and your fiance as a couple, taking each others wishes into account. Your unique style and taste in music will of course dictate the final choice. Follow these guidelines to make a sound decision.*Book your entertainment for your wedding ceremony & reception early.
*Make sure you get a music contract providing language for coverage of your event
*Shop around, and by all means visit and have each musician audition for you and meet with each DJ you are considering to make sure youre making the right decision.
*When you consider an entertainer, ask and insist that he or she is the actual DJ or musician that will be presiding over your event (not someone sent at the last moment). This assurance should appear on your music contract as well to avoid any problems or disappointments.
*If you prefer a live band, you should be able to attend an event where the band is performing to get a better idea of their versatility and talent.
*Ask for a wedding day itinerary of the events as they happen at the reception. This is a great tool for the success of your wedding.
* Remember to include a few of your family and guests favorite pieces of music to insure fun for all.
*How early should you book?
12 -18 months prior to your date to insure availability.
We wish you all a beautiful and music filled wedding day!
